Awards season is upon us and in full flower, and even with the Emmys and Tonys completed, much still lies ahead. After a year of cancellation and delays, the current season is full go, but for NBC's decision to not televise the Golden Globes. Below is a listing of the many remaining ceremonies.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, October 30, 2021
This year's class features some all-time greats, including Tina Turner, Carole King, and Gil-Scott-Heron. The ceremony will occur at the Rocket Mortgage Field house in Cleveland, Ohio, and will be broadcast on HBO.
AFI Life Achievement Award, November 11, 2021
Initially scheduled for April 20, 2021, the American Film Institute will finally honor Julie Andrews at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Famous for her stunning performances in Mary Poppins and the Sound of Music, this award is well deserved and will be broadcast on TNT.
American Music Awards, November 21, 2021
Founded by Dick Clark in 1973 when ABC lost its contract with the Grammys, the AMA awards will take place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, will be co-produced by Jesse Collins, and will be broadcast on ABC.
Gotham Awards, November 29, 2021
Also known as the Gotham Independent Film Awards, the Gotham Awards recognize excellence in independent filmmaking. This season's ceremony will eliminate gender acting categories, will be held at Cipriani Wall Street, New York City, and will be live-streamed on the Independent Film Maker Facebook page.
Critics Choice Awards, January 9, 2022
The CCA, established in 1996, is produced annually by the American-Canadian Critics Choice Association to honor excellence in cinema. This season's award show will be held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on the CW Television Network.
Screen Actors Guild Awards, February 27, 2022
Founded in 1952, the SAG Awards are given by the Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists to recognize outstanding performances. The Oscars were initially scheduled for this date. The award show will take place at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles and will be simulcast on TNT and TBS.
Academy Awards, March 27, 2022
The granddaddy award show, the presentation of the Oscars, is an American tradition. Originally scheduled for February 27 and moved back due to Covid considerations, the Academy Awards will again be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and broadcast on ABC.
