LOS ANGELES, Calif. (03/15/22) - iPOP Alumni Jacob Batalon’s upcoming series “Reginald The Vampire” has been picked up by Amazon and Hulu. The streaming platforms picked up the show for select territories. Reginald the Vampire, which is being developed by SyFy is Jacob’s first starring television role. The “Spider-Man: No Way Home” star plays the title role of Reginald in the series which is co-produced with Modern Story, December Films, and Cineflix Studios. The latter is coming on board as the international distributor for the 10-part series.
The show will air on Hulu in the U.S. and on Amazon in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand with an official premiere on SyFy this summer. In the series Reginald, a newly turned vampire crashes into a world populated by beautiful, fit, and vain vampires. The tv series is based on Johnny B. Truant’s “Fat Vampire” novels. The dramedy follows Reginald who is new on the scene as he overcomes barriers such as a bully of a boss, falling for a human girl he can’t have, and a vampire chieftain who wants him dead.
In a statement to Deadline, who shared the exclusive, Lindsay Macadam, senior VP for content and business development at Great Pacific Media, and executive producer said the following:
“The incredible creative team and cast we’ve assembled to bring ‘Reginald the Vampire’ to life has attracted these amazing global media partners. We cannot wait to share this series with audiences worldwide and to bring more premium scripted dramas like ‘Reginald the Vampire’ to the U.S. and international markets.”
Aside from Jacob’s upcoming starring role, he recently reprised his role in the Spiderman saga. “Spiderman: No Way Home” premiered in December of 2021 and became an instant blockbuster. Jacob returned as Ned alongside Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Mary-Jane Watson (Zendaya). Jacob landed on his path to stardom after attending iPOP LA, the twice-annual event held in Los Angeles, CA.
