iPOP Alumni Garrett Hedlund will star in a new feature alongside Noah Schnapp, Victoria Justice, and Jonny Weston. The news, which was first reported by Deadline, makes this Garrett’s first feature since departing the Dracula readaptation earlier this year.
Jordan Ross will direct ‘The Tutor,’ with Ryan King signed on to write the script. In the film, a professional tutor, played by Garrett, finds himself in unexpected circumstances. As Deadline states, “after being given an unexpected assignment at a remote manor, (Hedlund) finds himself battling his disturbed student’s (Schnapp) obsessions that threaten to expose his darkest secrets and unravel a carefully crafted persona.”
Joey Stanton, Robert Ogden Barnum, Eric Binns, and Christopher Kopp will produce the feature film. Production for the film has already begun in Birmingham, AL.
The film is being produced by Joey Stanton, Robert Ogden Barnum, Eric Binns, and Christopher Kopp. King, Greg Thompson, Luke Daniels, Allan Pao, Kyle Stroud, Nadine De Barros, Ali Jazayeri, Rick Sasner, and David Gendron are executive producing. Vertical Entertainment and Three Point Capital are financing the picture, with Fortitude International selling international rights. Production is underway in Birmingham, AL, with no further details at this time regarding a tentative release date.
Garrett Hedlund began his path to success after attending iPOP’s twice-annual talent competition in Los Angeles, CA. Garrett’s recent significant projects include Lee Daniels’ ‘The United States vs. Billie Holiday’ and season two of ‘Modern Love.’ In addition, Garrett has also starred in films like Netflix’s Academy Award-nominated Mudbound’. Likewise, his other roles include Walter Salles’ ‘On the Road’, Universal Pictures’ Academy Award-nominated Unbroken’ from director Angelina Jolie, and Ethan and Joel Coen’s Academy Award-nominated ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’.
